Anzu Global LLC will donate 10% of the company's pre-tax quarterly profits to several global charities. We would like to support and advance the trend of businesses leveraging their successes to address the global issues of hunger, disease, political oppression and poverty.
On June 25th, 2011, Anzu Global will host the second annual African Drum fundraiser for Well building. All proceeds will go towards building new wells and purchasing pumps for water irrigation in the village of Guidan Roumji, Niger. Donations are tax deductible and go to Bokai Incorporated, a 501 C-3 organization created for the well building projects.
In the summer of 2007, Michael Klinger returned to Guidan Roumdji a village in Niger, West Africa where he did the Peace Corps in 1979-1981. He met with former colleagues, the Mayor, Headmaster of the school and Prefet of the region. They discussed the needs for medicine, pumps for water, computers, school equipment and support for farming. Based on this list, Anzu Global has donated several thousands dollars in support of the school and infrastructure of Guidan Roumdji, Niger. The Prefet and Mayor monitor and oversee the distribution of funds and materials which go directly to the organizations responsible--school, medical center, farmer's union. The success of these efforts will be documented in text and pictures. It is hoped that this model can then be leveraged and implemented elsewhere in Niger to provide a greater impact with minimal overhead.
On a much larger scale, the publicized action of Bill Gates organization www.gatesfoundation.org is an excellent example of leveraging business success to provide resources to combat disease, hunger and poverty. Warren Buffet's recent contribution of $30 billion to the Gates foundation further underscores this trend. Jeffrey Sachs, in his work as the Director of the UN Millennium Project, is establishing goals and actions to reduce extreme poverty, disease, and hunger by the year 2015 www.unmillenniumproject.org. In 2010, Anzu Global LLC donated 10K to the building of three wells in Guidan Roumji, Niger. Additional donations went to Habitat for Humnaity, Heifer International and Food for the Hungry.
In 2009, Anzu Global LLC donated revenue to the following areas/organizations:
High School in Guidan Roumji, Niger, West Africa Government of Guidan Roumji for construction of wells, purchasing medecines and planting trees New Utrecht High School www.newutrechths.org
